DACHSER is a leading family-owned logistics provider headquartered in Germany.

DACHSER has 397 locations across 42 countries, providing an extensive network throughout the globe.

DACHSER UK comprises four branches; Northampton, Dartford, Rochdale and Bristol.

The Rochdale branch serving the North celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2020 by moving into a 5,175 sqm purpose-built facility on the Kingsway Business Park, investing £14.4 million into their new site.

Since their move, despite the ongoing impact of Brexit and Covid-19, DACHSER has continued to grow, employing an additional 26 team members bringing the total figure to 122 with further growth expected.

Property need

Since opening 11 years ago, the DACHSER Rochdale branch has experienced continuous growth and outgrew its previous base in Chichester Street, central Rochdale.

The new facility, as well as being the local DACHSER branch, is the logistics hub for the North of the UK.

The new £14.4 million site was instrumental in the continued growth of DACHSER in the North.

The investment reinforced the commitment to their customers, facilitating innovations and creating solutions to achieve logistical requirements and expectations of their customers. The site investment also developed the sustainability credentials of the branch, procuring the latest lithium battery technology and Material Handling Equipment (MHE).

The site has 49 dock loading doors with four-level access and secure truck, trailer and swap body parking. Internally, there is nearly 7,000 sqm with a mixture of sophisticated modern office space and employee facilities. The site is fully AEO compliant.

Why Kingsway?

General Manager Gary Atkinson said:

North England is the industrial hub of the UK; therefore, Kingsway is the perfect location. With direct access to junction 21; of the M62 corridor, connecting to Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and the major road infrastructure for the North of England and Scotland. When choosing our new location, a priority was to retain all the existing dedicated and skilled team. Kingsway is only two miles from the previous location; therefore, it meant they were able to achieve this. And, in the majority of cases, improve people’s journeys to work.

What next?

Gary Atkinson said: Continued growth and meeting the requirements of our customers remains the focus.

“We plan to develop contract logistics in the North. We expect new growth opportunities from this, and we are adding focus to our Air & Sea service – ASL”.

“We also will continue to support and invest in our team through training and recognition. We have an award-winning exciting and comprehensive apprentice, graduate and warehouse to wheels programme providing opportunities to a career in logistics across a wide variety of functions”.
