Takeuchi is a Japanese manufacturer of heavy machinery including mini excavators, tracked carriers and hydraulic breakers. It has built a strong reputation for quality, durability and reliability for high performance earth moving machinery. The Kingsway base acts as its UK head office and product support centre and employs 21 people.

2021 marked Takeuchi’s 25th year in the UK and coincided with a record-breaking 12 months for excavator sales, fuelled largely by demand from the booming construction sector.

The company moved to Kingsway in 2008 and is located in a 50,000 sq ft space. All the machinery is imported from Japan and distributed to a UK and Ireland network of 20 dealerships. Kingway’s close proximity to the motorway network was one of the key drivers for the company’s move to Rochdale as they support the growing numbers of Takeuchi machines operating across UK and Ireland.

In 2022 Takeuchi plan to continue to introduce new models and customers can expect to see the greenest Takeuchi with a battery powered option in 2022. In Rochdale the company is looking to grow its training school.

Marketing manager Holly Cooke said: “Kingsway is the perfect place for our UK base. It’s very accessible and we’re right next to the motorway network. I’ve been with Takeuchi for more than 20 years and it’s a nice environment to work in. We have access to skilled workers on our doorstep and enjoy a good relationship with Rochdale Development Agency. 2021 was a record year for us and we’re excited about the prospects in 2022.”
